Dr. Elizabeth Yeater is a Professor and the Director of Clinical Training for the Clinical Science Ph.D. program in the School of Psychological Science at OSU. She received her Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Reno and completed a Clinical Science Research Fellowship at Indiana University Bloomington. Prior to coming to OSU, Dr. Yeater was a Professor at the University of New Mexico, where she served at the Director of Clinical Training for 13 years. Dr. Yeater was the President of Division 12 of APA (Society of Clinical Psychology) and serves on the Review Committee for the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), where she reviews and makes accreditation decisions about programs who have applied for this prestigious accreditation.

Dr. Yeater’s research program investigates cognitive and behavioral processes and environmental contexts that increase college women’s risk for sexual assault and high-risk sexual behavior, including how alcohol use (i.e., intoxication, alcohol problems, and alcohol expectancies), cannabis use, and sexual attitudes (i.e., sociosexuality, rape myth acceptance) influence these processes and responses to high-risk contexts. She has executed successfully several NIH funded grants in which she tested her theoretical model prospectively; engaged in alcohol challenge work to examine the influence of alcohol intoxication on women’s cognitive processing of sexual assault risk; and used mobile technology (i.e., Ecological Momentary Assessment and Ecological Momentary Intervention) to leverage a better understanding of near real time risk for sexual assault and the prevention of such risk. Dr. Yeater also has a particular interest in examining sexual assault risk among women from marginalized groups, including women who identify as bisexual and racially/ethnically diverse women.
